Times have changed over the years. When I was having my children we did not know the sex. We planned our shower with pink and blue in our baby shower decorations and baby shower favors. Our shower favors were a diaper that you pinned on your clothing. Even the wedding favors have changed. Today most women know the sex before 6 months. Knowing the sex helps you plan for the new arrival and saves time when planning your shower.
